Salisbury Playhouse

Salisbury Playhouse one of the UK’s leading producing theatres with an annual audience of more than 100,000.

There is a busy programme of events from plays to pantomimes, musicals and youth theatre. It has a national reputation for home-grown work of the highest quality that attracts audiences from across the region. The Playhouse also hosts touring productions and a variety of events as part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival.

There are two auditoria within the 1970s building. The Main House seats 517 while the more intimate Salberg Studio seats 149. There is also a rehearsal room, community and education space, on-site scenery workshop, wardrobe and props store.

In 2018, the charity which ran the theatre amalgamated with Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury International Arts Festival and was renamed Wiltshire Creative.

  • Parking – The nearest parking is in the large Central Car Park, just behind the Playhouse. Free parking after 6pm. There is limited disabled parking at the theatre itself.

    Toilets - In the foyer – along with disabled toilets.

    Accessibility -  Salisbury Playhouse has two accessible viewing areas, each holding up to 3 customers in wheelchairs plus companions. There is a lift to the Main House. Headsets for audio description are available for specific performances and a hearing loop is available in both performance spaces. Captioned and BSL interpreted performances are also available. They also offer Relaxed Performances for those who may require a calmer more laid back atmosphere and would benefit from sensory-adapted performances and being able to leave mid-show. 

    Dogs - Guide dogs and hearing dogs are very welcome.
