Things to do in Salisbury between Christmas & New Year

Christmas Day may have come and gone for another year, but there’s still lots of festive fun and entertainment to be had across Salisbury.

Here’s a guide to what you can experience in Salisbury between Christmas and New Year:

Discover the Salisbury Christmas Trail

For a fun day out for all of the family, explore the medieval streets of Salisbury and discover festive characters on the Christmas Trail.

This year's trail allows you to make memories and remember them, as the trail is designed for you to take selfies and photographs along the way.

Download your trail map on the Experience Salisbury website or collect one from the Cathedral or Information Centre. Answer the questions at each trail stop you visit and you could be in with a chance of winning a prize!

The Christmas trial ends on 2nd January 2023.

Marvel at the giant Christmas Tree in Salisbury Cathedral

Visit Salisbury Cathedral to see the giant 32ft Christmas tree decorated with over 1000 twinkling lights.

A series of artwork by David Batchelor will also be available to view with one piece, Disco Mechanique (2008), floating high above the spire crossing in the centre of the Cathedral creating a kaleidoscope of colour.

From 27th December - 31st December the Cathedral will be open to visitors from 10.00am
with the last bookable slot at 2.45pm.

Don’t miss Cinderella at Salisbury Playhouse

After three years of no-go, panto is back in Salisbury and you won’t want to miss this ball!

Bringing all the best bits of panto back to Salisbury Playhouse, this feel-good show is full of sparkle, singalongs, laughs and magic.

Fun for all of the family, see Cinderella at Salisbury Playhouse before 8th January 2023.

Get festive at Christmas on the Square

Those new year’s resolutions don’t start until 2023 so why not continue the Christmas indulgence with some festive food and drink at Christmas on the Square?

Visit FROST Bar for a luxury hot chocolate or a warming mulled wine, then dig into greek souvlaki, bratwurst, cheese toasties, doughnuts, toasted marshmallows and so more.

See the winter exhibition at Salisbury Library

Salisbury Library will reopen on 28th - 31st December from 9am - 5pm.

Wander up to Gallery 4 to see this year’s Winter Arts Exhibition displaying the work of up to 70 local artists including painters, sculptors, photographers, glassware and fabric designers.

Find the angels at Salisbury Cathedral

A host of tiny Angels are hiding around the Cathedral waiting for children to seek them out...

This charming Christmas trail is available from the Welcome Desk until Tuesday 7th February 2023 and is a fun way for little ones to get to know our medieval Cathedral.

Meander around our Medieval city
