Halloween happenings in Salisbury

We are scarily close to Halloween and if you’re brave enough to venture out, you’ll find some ghoulishly good events in Salisbury.

Whether you’re looking for family-friendly happenings or ghostly goings-on for grownups, you can find it in our modern medieval city. 

Here are the events we think you should experience in Salisbury this Halloween, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of October 2022:

Salisbury’s Horrible History Walks

Salisbury is steeped in spooky history, and on this family-friendly guided walk, you’ll discover some of the city’s horrible histories.

On Friday 28th October, find out what the Tudors and Stuarts did in old Salisbury with bloodthirsty tales of crime and punishment. Hear stories of how the Victorians changed the City to get rid of the smells and rubbish in the streets.

This tour is aimed at families with Primary School age children (aged 7 and over). Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children - find out more here.

Spooktakular window displays

While you're wandering around our haunted medieval streets, keep an eye out for some spooktacular Halloween window displays! So far, we've spotted some at Clearway Pets on Winchester Street and Blind and Track Service on Brown Street!

Be a menace and meet Dennis at Old Sarum

Over Halloween half term gather your little monsters and prepare for a ghoulishly good day out at Old Sarum.

Join Dennis, Gnasher and friends as you follow creepy clues on the fun family quest around the grounds of the Iron Age hillfort.

Then, meet the costumed performers to hear tales of the strange, the supernatural and the downright silly.

Pumpkin Hunt at River Bourne Community Farm

Visit River Bourne Community Farm from 10am-1pm over Halloween weekend ​and discover 10 pictures of pumpkins hidden around the farmyard to win a goodie bag! 

There will also be other Halloween happenings in the barn for a small charge.

The pumpkin trail costs £3 per child - no need to book, just turn up!

Hauntingly good ghost walks

As darkness falls upon our medieval streets, discover strange happenings and Salisbury spirits on this city ghost walk.

All walks start from Salisbury Information Centre on Fish Row on Friday 28th October at 7pm and 7.30pm, Saturday 29th October at 7pm and 7.30pm, Sunday 30th October at 6.30pm and Monday 31st October at 7pm.

Tickets are £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for accompanied children - tickets must be purchased in advance.

Take a shot in the dark with Artisan Wine & Spirit Co.

Join Artisan Wine & Spirit Co. on Monday 31st October for a spooky Salisbury tour featuring creepy cocktails and serious ‘spirits’. 

The night will begin at 7pm The Old Ale & Coffee House, the group will then head out into the night with a drink or two to-go.

After history experts have made you see the streets of Salisbury in a spooky light, there will be the chance to warm up with a cosy bite to eat.

Monster Murder Mystery at The Red Lion Hotel

A group of monsters have gatecrashed a human Halloween Party at the Red Lion Hotel and things taken turn for the worse. 

Now, it is up to you and your guests to solve this monstrous crime. Head on down to the Red Lion Hotel on Saturday 29th October for a night of interactive theatre, a three-course dinner and Halloween dancing.

Creepy cocktails at YOYO

Over Halloween weekend, YOYO, will be celebrating the Day of the Dead with creepy cocktails and prizes for the best-dressed ghosts and ghouls. 

Entry is free and doors open at 8pm.

George and Dragon Halloween Party

The George and Dragon are celebrating spooky season with a Halloween party on Saturday 29th October.

Bring your devilish dance moves and your finest frocks as there will be live music from Nasty Fishmonger and Ukulele Vagabond, plus prizes for the best dressed!

Entry is free.

Spooky Sounds at The Winchester Gate

On Saturday 29th October, The Winchester Gate are going all out to give you the spookiest night of the year.

With a theme of ‘dress to possess’, you can expect live music from Pugwall and Bitter Divide plus a spooky DJ, terrifying drinks and prizes for the best fancy dress.
